Hangars

Aircraft hangars are an excellent way to provide garaging space for aircraft such as planes, helicopters or choppers. They are also ideal facilities to carry out maintenance and repairs. These covered areas safeguard the machines from adverse weather conditions such as frost, rain and snowfall or strong sunlight. Aircraft storage buildings must feature robust structure, be safe to use and made of the best quality materials. Kobex guarantees conformance to these high standards.

An aircraft hangar will work very well in areas at risk of natural disasters, because already at the designing stage we take into account any existing risks in the area. With the use of proven, cutting-edge solutions, the frame span of our buildings can be even 12 m, which ensures the highest functionality and comfort of use. The hangar is protected against corrosion and fitted with skylights, gates and windows as required in every possible configuration.

We use our specially developed technology to design and engineer our hangars to the specifications of the client’s business. We do not use welded but bolted connections. We still make every effort to optimise and reduce the overall weight and dimensions of shipping items. This facilitates the transport of our structural steelwork to the erection site. This particularly makes a difference in regions with significant traffic obstructions arising from insufficiently developed road infrastructure network.

The steelwork hangar system is best suited to buildings of small to medium widths of up to 18 m and works well with any length. Our hangar can come with different types of structural cladding. This could include:

• Polyurethane or mineral wool sandwich panels with excellent thermal insulation properties and a variety of thicknesses,
• Steel decking, a widely used cladding system for steel structures because of low costs, functionality and easy installation,
• Retaining walls, a traditional system that involves placing steel columns that reach a certain height. It is most often used in livestock or agricultural buildings for better protection of the walls from the outside.

For our hangars we install prefabricated spot footings (block type foundation) so that a temporary structure can be erected. Structures of this type can be particularly useful in natural disaster areas, and the presented structural system is adapted to any existing risks in the area already at the design stage.

Fitted with specific connections, the steel hangar system is well adapted for PV cells to be mounted on it, as the individual components of the system are also a supporting structure for the PV panels.
